Project Woodpecker - Rebuilding for the future
Over the 70 years since Woodlarks began our buildings (toilets, washrooms, dormitory, kitchen and dining area) have been developed and improved to suit the needs of our disabled users. Sadly they have now reached the limit of piecemeal development. A total re-build is planned, to:
- bring toilet and care facilities up to date
- raise the standard of bedroom accommodation
- increase space for dining, entertaining and wet-weather activities
- improve access and gradients
Our old buildings will go, making way for a wonderful new development to carry Woodlarks into the next century. The re-build has been spilt into three phases:
- Phase 1: Bedrooms, toilets, showers and a wheelchair friendly balcony overlooking the camp site
- Phase 2: A spacious dining & recreation room and improved welfare facilities
- Phase 3: 21st century cooking facilities, social space and further bedrooms
Project Woodpecker – A £1.5m Redevelopment Appeal
Such a major redevelopment of our site doesn’t come without a substantial price-tag. Woodlarks must raise over £1.5m to realise this project. We’re already well on our way to achieving our dream, we now have the total needed for Phase 1 and are looking raise £600,000 for phase 2. Now we need your help to fulfil the dream!
